While venturing through the arcane arts of audio spellcraft, I first chose the digital path: the VST realm. Spinae was the result — a charm forged in code, and it worked just as envisioned.
But soon I learned a truth that no tome could teach: nothing rivals the thrill of conjuring a tangible, tactical tone machine with your own hands.
So, as a token from my first quest, I now offer Spinae to all adventurers — free to wield.
"What once was bloom now bleeds, and something sharper rises."
Spinae is an aggressive fuzz VST/AU plugin designed for guitarists looking for an extreme, raw and unmistakably sharp tone.
Inspired by abrasive textures and dark atmospheres, Spinae transforms your sound into a distorted, compressed creature full of biting harmonics.
Perfect for modern metal, doom, noise rock and dystopian soundtracks.
(Windows only)
Key Features
Fuzz circuitry inspired by classic analog pedals, but pushed to the extreme
Intuitive controls: Drive, Feedb, Volume, Depth, Freq, Gate
Selected clipping mode for a spiky attack and cavernous sustain
Integrated waveform display
Custom boutique-style UI
How To Use It
Place it before the amp head as a distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedal
It will transform the character of your amp; clean amps in screaming ghouls, distorted amps in otherworldly demons
Controls
Drive
Adjusts the initial gain of the signal before the clipping stage.
At low values the sound remains scratchy and articulated, while at high values you get a violent and compressed saturation, perfect for walls of massive fuzz.
Feedback
Introduces a portion of the output signal back to the input of the circuit, generating unpredictable harmonics and controlled instability.
At high values it can result in self-oscillations, spectral resonances or synth-like sounds, ideal for sound design or noise.
Volume
Controls the output level of the plugin.
Essential for balancing the fuzz with other instruments or for further pushing subsequent effects in the chain.
Depth
Controls the intensity of the active mid-scoop EQ.
On the left the sound remains full, in the center the body progressively digs into the mid frequencies, and on the right you get an extremely scooped, modern and sharp sound.
Freq.
Determines the center frequency of the mid-scoop EQ (variable from ~100 Hz to 1.2 kHz).
Allows you to precisely sculpt the range to attenuate, tailoring the tone to guitars, basses or synths.
Gate
Activates a built-in post-fuzz noise gate.
Useful for eliminating unwanted hiss and feedback between notes.
At low settings the gate is gentle and lets the sound decay naturally; at high settings it is brutal and cleanly cuts off any tails.
